Five alpine roads to drive at least once

The Swiss Alps are a playground for those who love to drive: impeccable tarmac, endless hairpins and views that change with every altitude. We have chosen five roads to drive at least once in a lifetime, behind the wheel of the right car.

1. Furka Pass

Made immortal by cinema, the Furka links Uri and Valais with a sequence of perfect hairpins and a view over the Rhône glacier. It is the alpine road par excellence: spectacular yet never extreme, ideal for a grand tourer.

2. Susten Pass

Less famous but perhaps more beautiful, the Susten offers wide tarmac and flowing curves that invite an elegant pace. Its summit tunnel and glacial lakes make it an obligatory photo stop.

3. Gotthard Pass – Tremola

The old Gotthard road, paved in porphyry, is a living monument: 24 stone hairpins that tell two centuries of history. It is driven slowly, savouring every metre.

4. Maloja Pass and the Engadine

Gentle on the climb and spectacular on the descent towards Italy, the Maloja opens the door to the Engadine and the lakes of St. Moritz, a land of five-star hotels and unique light.

5. Klausen Pass

Technical hairpins, decisive gradients and very little traffic: the Klausen is the choice for those seeking pure driving. An agile supercar like the Ferrari 296 GTB is at its best here.

Aurea Drive designs the entire route for you, pairing the ideal car with gastronomic stops and five-star stays. All that is left for you is the pleasure of driving.
